Swap to external slave

I'm gearing up for a big motor/tranny swap. I'm going from a 4.2 paired with an AX-15 (with internal slave) to the 4.0 with an NV3550. Assuming I can't get the proper clutch pieces from the NV3550, I need some information. Also note, I'm going to be going with the Centerforce II plate and disc.

Now... will I need anything special for the rest of the clutch? I should just be able to purchase a throw out bearing for an '02 Wrangler and I should be set, right?

Should be. But you may need a new master as well if the current one doesn't "throw" as far.

Make sure you get the clutch, pressure plate for the year/size of the motor, not the trans. You're mounting all this to the 4.2 flywheel regardless of trans behind it.

Not sure on the throwout bearing on a NV.

4.2 flywheel? I was planning on using the 4.0 flywheel that came with the donor motor.

In case I wasn't clear (which is a very distinct possibility), the 4.2 is coming out and a 4.0 is going in.

Either way, I think you're right, I think I may need the master cylinder for the 4.0 motor. I'll have to check part numbers and see if they line up...

Thanks!

You're right, 4.0. (meaning match clutch to whatever flywheel, not the trans)
