Swap 70's amc I6 into my yj?

I have a 91 Wrangler and would like to put a 70's 258 or 232 in it. Is it a direct swap? Are the motor mounts the same? Will thebAUTO trans bolt up?

whether it is a direct bolt in swap or not I don't know, but check with your local dmv as to the legality of such a swap. most places you need a motor of the same year or newer than the vehicle your installing it into.

I suppose you could, the mounts and stuff won't be the same though.

That said, I wouldn't go from fuel injection to a carb setup like you're proposing if it were me. A 4.0 Swap would be a better option. Still have the same issues of mounts/transmission/t-case etc.
