Stuttering on sharp turn with less than half tank

89 YJ stutters and loses power when taking a sharp turn as if the gas tank is sloshing and sending sediment into the fuel pump?

What is a reasonable sequence for trouble shooting? Drop the tank and take a look? Replace fuel pump? etc?

Please advise or direct me to a thread that discusses.

Many thanks.

Pretty sure they all do it when around 1/4 tank when the fuel uncovers the fuel pickup.

Had the same thing happen after tanking up and no sharp turn. I guess my basic question is what would be recommended in terms of a step wise progression to trouble shoot stuttering on acceleration? It is most prevalent or noticeable after a sharp turn which is what leads me to believe it is a fuel pump type issue or sediment, but it will happen at other times as well.

Thanks.

Mine does it when I have less than 5 gals left. Backup gas gauge! It has also happened trailing a long hill. I keep 2 5s on the back so no issue.
