Stupid hardtop question

When you guys put your hard top back on do you guys take off the soft top rail or bikini top rail? It's a stupid ? But it's the first time Putin the hard top back on and it looks like the rail is keepin it from sitting down flush. Any help would be appreciated.

All soft top hardware is removed. That includes bikini top hardware too.

I left my bikini top hardware on.

Just the windshield rail.

If it's not supposed to move and does use duct tape.
If it's supposed to move and doesn't use WD40

I took everything off. If I didn't take the top windshield rail off the holes wouldn't line up for the screws.

Yeah, I should have mentioned I'm running a CJ-7 top with pre-existing holes .

I leave the rail on. But it doesn't fit quite right like said. But it's close enough. I can but the screws in but don't.

When I had a hardtop it wouldn't sit flush without taking the bikini rail off, however my buddy with an '89 puts his on right over it with no issue.

I'll have to ask my dad about it when I have time but when he had a 86 cj7 he modified his so that he could leave it underneath with no problems.
I imagine it would be the same with a yj.
Of course he also built his own hardtop lift as well so he could take it off by himself.
I have learned that when my dad has some tools and a little money there is nothing he can't do.
