Stuck Wheel Need Help (PICS)

I know this should go in the tires/wheel section but seems like there are more people here to help me out.
I am trying to get this wheel off and it looks like it has become one with the axle. Take a look...

I need some advice on how to get this off. I have heated it up, sprayed it with PB blaster, smacked it with a bat and am now out of ideas. What should i do?

Kick it, HARD.

Seriously, kick ONE side of the tire. The leverage and the shock should break it free.

If that doesn't work, you can always jack it up, then drop the jack very quick (only if using a Floor jack). Again, the shock and the movement should loosen it up.

Take some tips from BCSHEP

Quote:
Probably taking off the rear drivers side tire. It would NOT come off. I hammered it, broke a FRESH 2x4 width wise busted right in half.

So LOTS and lots of hammering didnt work. Torch didnt work. Then I took a BIG sledge hammer and beat it a few times with that and the cracker still didnt break loose. Now keep in mind this hammer would easily break my leg if I was to use it on myself.. 10 shots of that didnt work.

So I drove it a mile up the road, came back (I had the lug nuts on halfway).

that didnt break it free

So I took off the lug nuts and went off roading. I forced the wheel to blast off!!! It was an interesting drop I'll have to say.

i think i found your problem, you still have 1 lugnut on

hrm, in all honesty, jacking it out from the back would be the best option i'd think if you can get something to hold the jack against back there.

a more intelligent plan than my forcing the tire to fly off is to loosely put on 2 or 3 lugs and drive it until it breaks loose.. crank the wheel a few times to force it to break.

Looks pretty rusty there at the center hub.
If you have it, use a wire wheel on a drill (or a wire brush and elbow grease) and clean around the hub as best you can. Then try kicking it off as was suggested before.

I wouldn't try driving with the lugs loose as someone else suggested.

Another trick would be to tap those holes in between the lugs, then run a bolt thru them to force the wheel off.
Good luck,
Bil

try the wire wheel idea around the axle and arolund the lugs and add some PB blaster as you clean. then, use a MAPP torch to heat up the rim and then take a BFH to the back of the tire. had this problem on my uncle's ZJ and it took an hour of heating and pounding to get them loose.

Well after reading the first post I did just that. I put on my work boots and just gave it all hell. Came off with 2 kicks. I was using a baseball bat and it just wasn’t doing it. Thank you everyone for the advice and help.

sand that hub and use some anti-seize, to prevent future problems.

That problem just requires a BFH.

Damn I was hoping you didn't get it off yet because I would have suggested a chain through the wheel strapped up to a F-150 or something and just give her a nice yank. GITRDONE! Thats redneck style for ya. Glad you got it off though. I know what it feels like to fight rust, I'm in upstate NY.

PB Blaster and a bottle jack would have done it.

That same thing happened to us on the trail one time. Our friend had a flat on the trail and we tried to get it off but it wouldn't budge, so we tied a strap on the tire and around the wheel then hooked it up to my jeep, after a good yank it was free. Long story short, Redneck style works all the time.

Warning!!!

WARNING Do not put that rim back on It is old and could cause sudden laughter if you drive to a place where other Jeep owners meet. Take my advice and go to the shop and get some nice shiny new cool rims ... stat.
Or you could just keep using them and use some stickers to make them look faster like those kids with the rice cars do .

Actually I am taking them off and paint them. I was going to go with black but decided it looked goofy. So I am just going with silver. Going to sand, prime, and paint with Dupicolor wheel paint. I could care less that they looked like that but the rust could be come a prob. Also I don’t have the money for nice new shinny bling bling rims that will just end up looking like these ones.
