Stripping Paint

Hey guys whats up

Quick question, how do i strip the cars paint. not all of it just some areas.
for example the door hinge i want to strip the white paint from it. and paint it Black. How would i go by doing that for a nice clean work

best way is remove it and dip it in paint stripped, than wash it good and prime/paint

would that bring it to almost bare metal from original paint

go to harbor freight and buy a wire brush wheel for your grinder. its 5.99... it only takes a few seconds to brush it down, it takes it to bare metal and the brush lasts a long time.

Use a product called "Aircraft Remover"; I believe it was formulated to strip the paint from airliners to save weight. It works great and washes off with water.

MEK works better than the aircraft remover IMO. You dont have to sand things down all the way before you paint. You can sand it till its smooth and paint right over it. Especially going from white to black, dont waste your time taking if to bare metal. Both jobs will look equally good. I've painted boats and engines and parts for the past 4 years and only 2 times have i taken anything down to bare metal.

I havent used much of the aircraft remover though, I think its cheaper than MEK and works the same

Would a normal hardware store carry the strippers such as MEK or Aircraft Remover
if not i can go with the brush

Home Depot near doesnt have the aircraft remover but they do have this

I have picked Aircraft Paint Remover up at Pep Boys, Tractor Supply, and CarQuest if you have those stores in your areas. I have seen them at some auto stores that specialize in paint/body work

Yes i just looked online and there is a pepboys 3 miles away from my work i shall go over and look to see if they have it

edit: OK pepboys sucks, they dont have it (in my area that is, called 2 places)
