Sticky/ Stuck key ignition?

This happened randomly, not slowly over time.
The problem is when I put my key in the ignition to start my 94 YJ not only is it increadabuly hard to physically turn the key but once I get it to turn to ignition it will stick. Ill have to push it back or else the starter will stay running.

Is there a spring or some kind of mechanism that pushes/ keeps the key ignition tight?

Replacing random parts on hunches spurred from other vehicles and peoples experiences with them is the safest bet.

You get any more info on this? I've had that problem a couple times for an automatic 99 XJ and I'm scouring the forums for any info.. now the key is stuck in the ignition cylinder and I'm not sure what the problem is. Maybe its related.

Turned out mine was just a key that was worn out. The other key is fine!
