Steering pump replacement and hydro assist

Ok so my power steering pump is making a lot of noise and was thinking of replacing it. I also like the idea of upgrading when I replace things so I dont really just want to go stock. I have been reading some about hydraulic steering and hydro assist steering. From what I gather I would only need hydro assist since I only have 35s and plan on not going any larger and don't usually wheel in rocks, mostly trails or mud.
So the question is what is a good pump to replace the stock one with that I would be able to use with hydro assist in the future. Also any more information on hydro assist would be helpful. Write ups links or other links for me to read.
Thanks

You can check out PSC's site http://www.pscmotorsports.com/, they pretty much carry everything including a direct replacement pump for the 4.0L, or the whole kit to do it all.. Not cheap.

I used my stock 4.0 pump for years with Hydro assist and a very large cooler and it worked fine. I did drill the pump port over sized buy two steps and again I ran a very large cooler.
I was able to push 39's around with little problems and I used a very large ( for hydro assist ) ram, it was a 2x8" ram so it was a lot of body to fill, but again no problems from a stock T/C pump.

Kits are nice but stock does work with the right stuff and a little tweaking to the system.

And on the 8th day, God created the 14 bolt...
