Starter problems

Hey All,

Yesterday I came home from work my 95 YJ was fine. I went to go out to the store and it wouldnt turn over at all. Something with the starter. if i jump start it it runs fine. when i turn the key to start it absolutley nothing happens. Any Ideas?

buy a new starter 2 bolts.....on .... off done

Started with some rust repairs ended in a SOA...

I was looking in the Haynes manual it said sometimes u have to remove the exaust
?

nope its tight but nope......just do it when its cold so you dot burn yourself.....and I found from the top is easier, but climb under its not hard to get at....well mine is a 90 but I would think it would be similar........

Cool thanks but I have the Haynes Manual and it dosent say where the starter is located on the engine. lol i know stupid but i am new to this

FIRST thing you should do is check your batt connections because if you can jump it, you may not have a bad starter. It could be the batt and wires.

As for the starter location.
Bottom of the engine, to the pass side of the oil pan. Here is a link with some pics, It is a TJ but same location . DO NOT follow those instructions for the mount is different. Your literally looking at 2 bolts and it's out.

You can at least take it out and have it tested.

i checked connections seems fine. hooked 12 volts to starter and it barely turned seemd to be siezed

Does it only start "when" the check engine light is on?

Check Engine light never came on. It was the starter. I replaced it and all is working fine now. Thanks for all your help.
