I used a rust resistant, non glossy Krylon paint. Hopefully, after much reading on this site, that will help to adhere to body even better than just to metal. I will wipe down with acetone to make sure I have good bond first. Will start herculining Tues or Wed...........wish me luck

I used 40 and 80 grit sandpaper. It was very slow due to the old liner. So I then went to a propane torch to heat original liner and a putty knive to scrape. That was definitely the ticket. After removing or at least smearing old liner, I took drill with wire brush and removed most everything else.

The sanding is a lot of work. Once I went to the torch and the steel brush, things moved much faster!!

If I didn't want to take it to the metal, I would just use sand paper and kind of rough up the paint. If I wanted to take it all the way to the metal before Herculining, I would definitely use wire brush....... get rid of any rust and prep with a rust resistant paint.

What ever you do, don't get any on your Hootus!!!

I finished My Hurculiner yesterday, best move I have made with my YJ. I used the Grey kit and it took exactly 1 gallon. I found the more you schlep it on the better it looks.

No Gun, just the rollers and 2 1 1/2 brushes, "dabbed" with the brushes. Tried to "paint" with the brushes and the rubber balled up so I started dabbing and "schlepping" and it worked great! just don't try to be Rembrandt.

Saw your Jeep in the profile. I like those rims. What are they?

I did mine this weekend too. Prepping was a pain in the *** but it was beautiful weather so i didnt really mind. Prepping took me probably 7-8 hours of sanding, wire brushing, and cleaning the surface. Needless to say my Herc looks pretty sweet
