The sanding is a lot of work. Once I went to the torch and the steel brush, things moved much faster!! If I didn't want to take it to the metal, I would just use sand paper and kind of rough up the paint. If I wanted to take it all the way to the metal before Herculining, I would definitely use wire brush....... get rid of any rust and prep with a rust resistant paint. What ever you do, don't get any on your Hootus!!! ![]() Last edited by blackmax; 04-21-2007 at 08:28 PM.. |

I finished My Hurculiner yesterday, best move I have made with my YJ. I used the Grey kit and it took exactly 1 gallon. I found the more you schlep it on the better it looks.

No Gun, just the rollers and 2 1 1/2 brushes, "dabbed" with the brushes. Tried to "paint" with the brushes and the rubber balled up so I started dabbing and "schlepping" and it worked great! just don't try to be Rembrandt.

I did mine this weekend too. Prepping was a pain in the *** but it was beautiful weather so i didnt really mind. Prepping took me probably 7-8 hours of sanding, wire brushing, and cleaning the surface. Needless to say my Herc looks pretty sweet
