Squeaking Drums?

When I remove the drum, there is no squeak when the wheel is turning, but when I put the drum on, it is a constant squeak if the wheel is moving (even by hand). It came on kind of suddenly. I imagine somehow the brake pads are now rubbing on the inside of the drum? Any ideas?

Check your brake backingplate see if it is rubbing the drum.

Drum problems can come from a variety of places. The adjuster screw may need to be turned in some, a spring could have come off, or you could have a failing brake cylinder.

Here's a diagram of a brake drum for comparison.

Have you adjusted the drums properly?

i adjusted them a few months ago with a brake spoon after I reinstalled the parking brake and replaced all the hardware. The cylinders were replaced in August, so they shouldn't be failing already.
