Speedometer doesn't work!

On to my next problem, my speedometer doesn't work. Everything other gauge on the dash works but the speedometer. I am guessing it is cable driven off of the transmission? Any input fellas, and or ladies?

No, there is no speedometer cable on your '94.

It is driven by an electrical VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) signal from the transfer case. Here is where it's located on the driver's.

The sender in this pic is from my '91 which does use a cable, but the sender for yours is in the same location.

easy way to tell for sure if its working is take it out and use a cordless drill to spin it while watching the speedo gage. If it works with the drill.. you will need to have it "clocked" correctly to work

So take the dash out and use a cordless drill on it? Really? In addition to the speedo gauge not working, the dash lights are also out.

OP doesn't have a cable driven speedo.

Check all your fuses & connections to the gauges.

Um.

How does a drill send a VSS signal over a wire?

Install a GPS nav unit over the non-functioning speedometer.

I feel like an idiot. I envisioned spinning a cable at the speedo head. I was suffering from tunnel vision apparently.
THAT is exactly what he could do.

Yes, if you use a drill to spin the gear on the sender, it will generate a signal just as if the T-case was spinning it. If the sender is working properly, that is.
