SOA vs. 3" Lift

ok so i have a 1993 jeep YJ and im wondering whether i should get a SOA or a 3" lift. Both look good, but im also a poor highschool student that would probably be doing all the work with some help from some friends. But i was hoping that someone could tell me which would be better for someone in my position. I do want to take this up to the hills and go wheelin, but i also need a good highway vehicle.

So ive read about SOA and seems like they can be pretty challenging. some questions
Would i need to buy a new extended driveshaft for SOA?
new brakes lines to make longer with SOA?
Need a double steering stabilizer so highway driving isnt so bad?

Thanks for your advice and knowledge

Very challenging, but worth the effort IMO. NOT CHEAP, if done properly.

Yes, and a SYE kit & C/V driveshaft.
new brakes lines to make longer with SOA?
New, and longer.
Need a double steering stabilizer so highway driving isnt so bad?
Not if done properly. Many YJ's (SOA & SUA) work well with the stock stabilizer, or none at all.

Thanks for your advice and knowledge

what size tires do you want to run?

since your still in high school i would go with the 3" lift... when i was in high school (i got out a coulpe mounths ago) i didnt have money for a SOA and still dont

oh and i wheel the $h!t out of my jeep with a RE 2.5" lift and 33s, the funnest times i had in high school were workin on my jeep and wheelin it with my friends and takin some girls off roading to....it makes for a good first date

and good luck with your rig!

For your situation - you will do fine with a quality 3" SUA lift.

mine is soa, my fathers is 3" sua and i really get a kick out of driving his. i built his for the "set it and forget it" concept.

you could go with a little bigger tire but, if you still have some meat on your tires why spend the money now? with a 3" lift i dont seeing you going any bigger than a 32. unless you like the sawzall. long story short save the money for now.
