SOA with RE 2.5" springs

I am about to do a SOA to my jeep finally & cannot decide if my 2.5 RE SUA springs will be to much lift for the SOA. Thay are 4 years old so there is some sag. I will be sticking with 33X12.5 tire, & will use stock height shackles.

If it is on the high end, is machining down the SOA axle perches to remove some lift enough?

This is DD driver, that 2% of the time sees the trail.

That might be to much. I guess it is SOA with the 2.5" or just buy the SUA 4.5" RE's.

If the above is correct - don't bother.

I agree with Joe 1000%. Don't waste your time/effort/money doing SOA for a road Jeep.

Thank you for the replys. I will see what I am going to do. Using the 2.5RE on a SOA is just to much lift for what I want. Joe, I know you are right on. Problem I find with most people, when it is your car it is hard to listen to common sense.

Often so true with some folks. Build it however you wish, but be advised that 2.5" leafs SOA does give quit a bit of lift.

You asked about springs, but it's way more than that. If you are looking for rational reasons to remind you it's a bad idea, it's guaranteed you will have to spend money/time/effort on steering, then there is the drive line angles and SYE and shaft lengths, then sway and track bar adjustments (since it's a DD). Buy some nice wheels and move on

I was plotting some of your points. My SYE driveshaft is too long as it stands so it would work. I ditched my sway already. I am happy with me wheels already thanks. The steering is what is really the concern.

I think it is certain I am going to eat the $600 to go with RE 4.5" SUA springs/stock shackle length and loose the 2.5"RE with 1" lift shackles.

I was figuring $600 deep into a SUA, when $600 & slightly + would cover the SOA with my 2.5"RE. That is with steering/trac/etc...
