Your lucky that you have one of the toughest motors ever made.A good friend of mine drove his Cherokee over 700,000 miles without an overhaul. Rust finally killed it.

Take the opportunity to change the oil and filter, flush the cooling system etc. to appease the jeep gods

You and I obviously deal with different Jeep gods. Whenever I spend a day doing basic maintainance on the YJ the laws of the Jeep gods dictates that something major will fail in the near future.

Update:
Been about 2k miles and she's still trucking strong.
Just took her on a 200mi drive this weekend for some camping with no problems.

Gotta love Jeep's no non-sense tractor reliability in their engines.
