So I put on the soft top today...

Hooray for me!
No directions, so I had figure everything out, the tailgate bar thing was a bit tricky at first.
But I digress.

How do I fold this thing down?
That's why I put the soft top on in the first place, so I could put it down on a nice day. But if I don't know how, that's kinda useless isn't it?

^noob question^

I have a Bestop Supertop (given to me for free, yay me!) and had no instruction. I just figured it out a week ago or so when I put it on.
To fold it down I:
Unzip the side windows and roll them up together and stuff them in the back.
Unhook the sides.
Unhook it from the front (windshield) and peel it all the way back (like opening a pringles can seal) and let it hang off the back of my jeep.
Unhook and collapse the hardware.
Then I roll the top up like I would a bedroll and tuck it neetly in the back.

Thats how I do it... but I'm spacial!

You can Download the instruction sheet from Bestop's web site!
(if it's that what you have)

Enjoy !

I actually tried that, but I don't know if I downloaded the wrong files or if those were the only ones they had, but they were completely different from my top.

Ok so you might have a Mopar top. Maybe snap a couple of pics outside and inside (frame) so we can figure out what it is and help you!

I think you forgot to mention to either roll up the back window or remove it completely? I typically do that first and then move to the side windows. Yours is a Supertop, so it might be a little different. Just want to make sure as it would seem to be very difficult to roll it down with the back window still set up.

Here are some photos, I'm not too sure how much you'll be able to tell from them, but the batteries ran out in the camera, so this is all you'll get.

If it helps, I'm fairly certain that it is NOT a SuperTop, although it does say BestTop on the windows.

Hey thats the one I have. To take it down:

1. unzip the side windows.

2. Pull those little metal bows down in the back

3. Unzip or roll up the back window

4. Pull out the sides on the rear corners

5. Pull the part from the front windshield and fold it over to the back half, let it rest there

6. This seems to be the hardest part for me. Now pull the front metal bow towards the back one, it helps to lift up a bit, make sure everything folds towards the front end of the jeep, push it all forward

7. Watch out for the torx screws on the side rails. Use those little black straps that are on the rear supports in the back, fold those from the inside, over the top, and secure them into the side rails

If you have the original manual for the yj it also describes it there.

If you do not remove and roll up the windows expect to trash them. One time is all that it takes. No shortcuts.
