snapped my countershaft in my AX5

Got these images off the cherokee forum, but this is exactly what my ax5 looks like. I don't use 5th gear. can i just remove it?

Well, you could just remove it, and that would work for a while (maybe an hour, maybe more) until the transmission completely fails. If you do that, none of the internal parts will probably survive to be reused. It's kind of like the old saying, "you can pay me now, or you can pay me more later".
