Snake a wire though a tube bumper, need help!

Man, who would of thought hiding the positive wire for my front bumper mounted lights would be so difficult.....I cannot tell you how many hours I have invested, and patience trying to snake this one wire...lol

Here is a pic

http://www.cryptostudios.com/Help.gif

I have tried everything, fishing line w/weight, all sorts of guaged wires, etc. I even drilled out the template hole in the bottom of the smittybilt bumper larger so I could see better up in there, but I have had zero luck trying to get it down there to where I can see it with a light or drop it though the hole.

The top 2 lights are wired and I was able to snake thru the middle section up top to connect those. So now I only have to run the remaining positive wire down the tube and out the bottom as seen in the pic.

Anyone have any suggestions? New bumper is on, winch is on, lights mounted, no problems, but hiding this light positive wire inside the tube....this is damn near killing me....lol!

Try this: CABLE SNAKE FLAT WIRE TAPE 25 low profile, .25 wide EFT-21PN GB ELECTRICAL
You can find something similar at any good hardware or building supply place.

Yeah I tried the coat hanger, it's heavy guage. It kept trying to go thru the headlight guard tube to the side there instead of down...and the more I would bend it, the worse it was to navigate...lol

I would've suggested a coat hanger as well.

Try compressed air with a light string. It will blow out the exit hole, allowing you to use it to fish your wire through it.

I keep a roll of 16 guage Annealed wired in my Trail toolbox that I have used for this purpose. I actually ran the Speaker pod wires inside my rollbar using the stuff.

Depending on the direction you need to push, and the amount of wire attached to your light, you may need to use some string too.

I did not have a lot of wire on my speaker pods so I taped string to the 16 guage wire an pushed it through from the opposite end. I then taped the string to the speaker wire and pulled it from the other direction.

I bought the 16 guage dark annealed wire (2 lb) at Lowes. It is made by The Hillman Group, Cincinati Ohio. Part Number is 122064

Yeah I need to hide some hdmi cable in the loving room wall for the wife at some point. So it might not be a bad idea to invest in some snake wire. I am guessing the stuff as lowes is cheaper than the ACE kit, which is essentially the same thing. Edit - yup, $8.97 at lowes. Only thing is it's black? gonna be hard to see hehe

Because your top tube is welded to the bottom tube it will be just luck to make that run. And to find the bottom hole.\\

How about drilling a hole at the bottom of the top tube in the back of it and bring your guide wire out there. It might be just a little easier.

Yup, that weld is what makes this so hard. I agree 100% when I stuck the screw driver in there and noticed how they templated this bumper for the wires. I did have more luck going bottom to top but hate to drill more holes up there. Might have to since the existing one is more towards the back middle and not the back bottom of the tube.

You might try tying a string to a small washer. You can then use a magnet on the outside of the tube to guide it where you want it. I have fished cable into walls using this method with great success.

Tried the magnet method. The bumper is solid metal.
hehe

I purchased some light strong wire at Ace today during lunch for 1.99, gonna try that. If that does not work gonna borrow my neighboors shop vac.
