Six beeps??

I have a '89 YJ 2.5 with 5 speed. When I bought it a few weeks back, it ran really poorly, and when I turned off the key I would get six beeps (3 sets of 2) on shutdown. I did some throttle body cleaning, etc and got the Wrangler running much better. The beeps went away. Now they have come back. Since this model does not have a check engine light or computer codes, I don't know what to make of these beeps. Anyone have any ideas?

The after market radio in my jeep beeps when I shut off power ..... to remind me to take off the removable face. Just a thought. I'm sure it will be something not factory fitted, like a radio or alarm system !!

Could be an aftermarket alarm system. My dad has one in his truck that never gets activated and goes off like that.

Sounds like an aftermarket stereo... or an alarm system as those above have stated. Does the sound come from the speakers?

All of you are, in one way or the other, correct!

Its the Sony aftermarket removable radio. Remove it and no beeps!

And here I was, thinking of some weird engine code.

Thanks guys!

Is it a Sony Xlpod deck? Mine did the same thing, I switched it out for a Pioneer deck. I've been wondering if all Sony decks do that.
