~sigh~ OUCH!!! ~sigh~ Exhausted

My wife and I took in the Police Concert as Madison Square Garden last week and coming home from the show I hopped into my truck, turned the key and heard the sound of my exhaust in a way you do not want to hear. The sound of a ruptured exhaust. Thinking that no good time goes unpunished, the concert had been amazing, I drove home sounding like a really f-d up Mazarati with a too wide open exhasut note. Having heard the sounds like that too many times in my life I knew exactly what it was, and along with the nasty exhaust note and mushy accelleration I heard the sound of the dollar bills flying out of my wallet....

Three days later I had the exhaust from the pipe coming out of the header to the cat to the muffler and tail pipe replaced. About $700 later it was done, but what a difference it made. I have much better acceleration and I noticed that I no longer stall on start up as I was doing. It was so damned wierd seeing the guy at the Firestone exhaust center backing my truck out of the bay, but boy did that drive home how good looking my truck is even when another person drives it, and how short the wheel base is.

On a good note, tonight I went to pick up dinner and offended at least half a dozen people when I floored it a few times in town, leaving stretches each time because I was not used to the added power that a little bit of decent back pressure brings on.

Is the D35 that weak? I've raced my heep around town for the past 6 years with the 350 in it and the rear end hasn't complained once.
Dunno....

I have to say that I am not TOO abusive to my rig, but yeah, I have to watch it cause I want to replace things when I decide that it's time to do it, and not cause s**t falls off and or things start sounding REALLY bad, enough so that the neighbors, who really, really like me, start to give me dirty looks as I drive past.

^ Probably went all out with high flow cat, a flowmaster or borla exhaust, and stainless steel piping mandrel bent. Plus labor. I can believe $700 then.

Yeah i could see that too but that's still too much to spend on exhaust IMO.

No, but it is all stainless, and I live on Long Island where the labor and such is a lot higher then most other places. If I had had the time I could have tried to find a place about 75 miles away from where I live to have saved a few hundred dollars, but alas, time and such did not permit. In addition, not having a large torch kit made less then inclined to make this a DIY project when I looked at the materials cost.
