Side View Mirrors Anyone??

Has anyone had any luck finding a good set of sideview mirrors that fit on the body so the doors can come off. I have bought a set that attaches to the lower window frame hinge but the whole thing is crap from the mirror, to the paint, to the fasteners it came with, to the geometry of the passenger side one so you can see it.

If anyone has bougth a pair that works and good quality I would love to know the name and pics if you have any.

Thank you!

Jim

if you have light mounts welded on the front right below the windshield you can unscrew the mirrors and insert them into them..works for me, but you cant put aux. lights in

I've also seen it done with older pickup truck mirrors bolted through the upper door hinge.

Ditto on the mirror issues. If you do find any that you like will you post it here? I would do likewise.

I got of CJ style windshield hinges and CJ mirrors. Works fine for me, but the passenger side takes a lot of adjustment to get it to where you can see anything. I think any mirror that mounts forward of the stock location on the passenger side is going to be that way because you have to view it through the windshield. I noticed the same thing on my Brother-In-Laws TJ with the mirror relocators. Other than that the only other thing I've noticed is that they do vibrate more than the stock door mirrors, but I've gotten used to that.

These may be similar to what you've already got, my buddy has some like you're describing and hates them.

Picked up a set at Shucks auto supply - $15 each - 4.5x6 rectangle shaped, stainless steel. Will be using them on some safari doors I'm making but the hardware that came w/ them could easily be adapted to fit something that drops into your door hinges (checked several stores and one junk yard for side mirrors - these were by far the best looks wise)

Same here and ditto on the vibration, but I still like them better than the stock mirrors..........

Mirrors Who needs mirrors.

Actually I tried a pair like shown above when I pulled my camper and they vibrated so bad I got dizzy looking in them and were no help at all and the factory mirrors get blown down by the wind so I jsut stop looking in my side mirrors. I live by my rear view mirror.

I agree with you! but the cops get kinda cranky if you don't have 'em. JC Whitney sells relocation brackets, but I haven't tried 'em myself!

Have the same style as timatoe as far as location except mine the bolt the YJ hinge. Brand is CIPA and they were pretty bouncy and tended to move a bit. I added some neoprene washers to them and now they stay put and also don't bounce near as much, can actually use the drivers side. The passenger side is a bit harder to get used to and unless the windshield is clean it's almost useless. Were only 30 for the pair and a buck for the washers so was a cheap solution.

so if you have relocation brackets that currently hold a standard YJ mirror can you swap in some CJ mirrors?

I was told as long as you have a center mirror you are ok, it is either center or the two side mirrors. I ran doorless and without side mirrors all summer and I had no problem, even when I got pulled over once, they said nothing about the mirrors. I had the middle one on the windshield though. I dont know if I was just lucky or if it that is the NY law, as I only heard it second hand, not from a cop or anything, though I would be interested if anyone knows for sure.
