shock length?

so heres one of my problems. i have a rc 4" lift with 1" shackles. I keep ripping out the top shock bushings on the front so im thinking my shocks are too short and i want to get rid of the stud mounting style. I have the shock converters but im undecided on what length im going to need. ive read the shock and shackle thread already so please dont just post those links.

Have you flexed out the front and measured from eye to eye? It will give you a good starting point and you can measure the compressed length too. Once you get the measurements you can probably call a distributor who can help you with the part numbers.
