Shifter for 700r4/4L60

Ok, I know there's a couple YJ guys out there running a 700r4/4L60. What shifter are you using. I've heard good things about the B&M and the Lokar. I'm leaning towards the Lokar. But here's an odd question for all the guru's out there.......Anyone think it'd be possible to use the factory column shifter in a YJ with a 700r4/4L60???

I can't say wether or not you can use the factory shifter, but what I can tell you is that Lokar is WAY BETTER than B&M. I have ran both on my rig and finally stuck with the Lokar. It took quite a bit of work to get the B&M to work right only for it to be a hassle. (very hard to shift because of the cable length.) The Lokar has a solid shift rod that uses heim joints at both ends. The end result is much better, both working and visual. But that's just my opinion... I hope that this will help in your decision. Godd Luck

I'm running the B&M truck shifter on mine. Like tbicj7 said, it is very hard to shift. I guess the decision you should make is cost wise. The B&M is roughly $170.00, while the lokar is much more. I would have liked to get the lokar but I just could not afford it. I don't have any problems wiht mine just hard to shift.

So which of the Lokar shifters would I need? They've got the regular one, the floor mount one, and the tail mount one.

Hey tbicj7....you have any pics of your rig? Specifically pics of your hi steer setup?

I went with the floor mount shifter, I liked it better. I think it's the 15". However, you will have to do minor mods to the tail cone bracket. Just a little grinding. Keep in mind, they are for street rods, not 4X4's. unless something has changed. As far as the High-Steer, PM me your e-mail and I'll get some to you a.s.a.p.

RabiDawise,
Check out http://www.lokar.com/interior_pages/shifters_knobs.htm. and look for part #ATS6700C AUTO TRANS SHIFTER 700-R4 12" . That's the one I have. But you can go as short as 6" or as long as 23" Summit Racing.com has them for $163.39 plus handling, I would suggest getting the shifter boot too.
