shift grind SOMETIMES

Hello all!! I am stumped. I have a 95 wrangler with the i4 and 5-speed. When i shift from 1st to 2nd like normal, there is a grind. If I shift from 1st, then act like Im going to put it in 3rd, then go to 2nd, there is no grind. I dont actually put the shifter into 3rd, i just push it up near there then go into 2nd. Whenever i do this, there is no grind. I changed the trans fluid to redline mt90 to hopefully help somewhat but it didnt. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!!

Try changing the trans oil. It sometimes helps. Shift little slower.

Edit: sorry, you already did that. Sounds like the syncro's are worn out. eventually it will need to be rebuilt. nurse it for now.

Worn out syncros. Time for you to learn to rebuild it.

I did an AX-15 rebuild writeup. They're very similar.
