Shackles????????

What's goin on there my jeepin family?? I just bought one and a quarter inch shackles. I have a 2.5" susp lift but it's rubbin a litle bit and I do want a little more height out of my YJ. Was this a poor descion? I thought it was better than a body lift but now I'm havin second thoughts. Any experience with shacles and a lift?? Please respond.

Shackles are easy, lift by the frame to take the load of the springs, then put the shackles on, (do front first) then lower the Jeep and wrench on the shackle bolts, if you do it when it is in their air you will bind the bushing, the idea of the shackle is to move back and forth,. Good Luck

Thanks BigJeep. Is it safe to run bigger shackles?

I think that a shackle lift is a better choice than a body lift. I have experience with both and the only problem with the shackle lift is that your track bars will push on your shackles a little. but you can always just take these out alltogether and avoid the hassle. The simple body lift can become very complicated. Between Shifting problems, Freeing up the steering column and that annoying space under the body, a body lift is just not worth it. Learn from my mistakes, thats my $0.02
