Have long (6 1/2") shackles on front and rear of '93 Wrangler. Thinking about fabing some body/frame drop sections approx. 3" or 4", welded to bottom of frame. Then using some slider type shackles. Thinking these would be much more stable. But wondering with all the offroad articulation and spring movement they would always bottom out both front and rear. Anyone ever use these?

I have seen a few threads on slider type ends but never seen them work properly in person. If you're going to try to improve the leaf spring setup, link it.

Instead of long shackles you add a box section (spacer) to the frame. Instead of frame being 3 1/2" thick it is now 6 1/2" thick. Can do this on front and/or rear leaf mounts for both front and rear axles. Then attach the shackle to it. That way you can use shorter stock size shackles instead of those big long type shackles. Like a body lift but on the frame bottom to leaf springs. It's a way of getting suspension lift without long shackles, re-arc'd springs, or whatever. Installed new currie 44 in front with everything same as before. Have all new rods, rod ends, etc. Now having severe death wobble problems. So I'm down to, that it may be the long shackles not being stable enough. Everthing else is new and tight. Just had tires rebalanced and rotated with no success.

sounds like just another way of saying you want to weld a shackle hanger under the frame instead of going thru the frame. very do-able. depending on the length of shackle, this will raise/lift the Jeep.

WRM

Bad idea to the proportion you are wanting or thinking about - can it.
