Seats

I have a 1995 YJ and want to replace the seats. I am 6'2" and am wondering what you guys that are similar size and are satisfied with the after markets seats you got. What brand did you get? Will after market seats allow me to slide the seat back a little more than what the stock allows? What brand do you recommend? I don't want to spend more than $300 per seat. Thanks

Most aftermarket seats are going to sit higher than stock, so that can help create some leg room but sucks for us tall guys. When I installed my Mastercraft Rubicons I had to lower my seat brackets, I got the driver side about 1.25" lower. I'm a little over 6' and have plenty of leg room but the top of the windshield frame can be in the way sometimes when looking at stop lights. I paid ~$600 for the pair

I'm 6' 3". I found what Randon said, most seats are thicker. I just welded up my own seat risers to make the aftermarket ones the height I preferred. I now look through the windshield at about 40% down from the top.

I went with Bestop Trailmax II about four years and 6k miles ago. They sit higher, but at 6' 2" it really doesn't bother me except if I'm too close to a stop light.

They have held up pretty good, but it is garage kept. The vinyl is hard to clean stains off off, but I do drive it naked 8 months out of the year.

That last statement didn't come out as planned.

@tom_sprecher

Stop whining about the 'ride' - If your YJ ain't wrangling your soul free, then might I suggest you buy a stationwagon... at least you can fit all your bull**** in the back.

Just got the Mastercraft baja rs reclining suspension seat. Worth every penny, great for street and trails. I'm 6, don't run sliders, just install directly to factory brackets and it's perfect.

Did you have to change out the stock seat belts when you went with the Rubicons? Also where did you get the pair for $600 if i may ask? Thanks

@Artinsocal the higher bolsters made my original female ends hard to reach, I believe they made them longer in 92. I threw In some longer ones.

I ordered my seats directly from Mastercraft.

I would have done what @kgb_m3 did if my seat didn't need to be adjustable for my girlfriend.

I agree, longer ones really help reaching the female ends!

...Now that my inner 12 year old is done giggling, I just got the Corbeau Moab Neoprene. I'm not a big guy at all, 5'9" or 5'10" if I stand up straight, and the extra 3" height feels like a lot! My steering wheel is only 1" from my legs now... I see some custom seat risers in my future.

That is the issue with aftermarket seats, they get your thighs very close to the steering wheel. I am 5'9" and lowered my brackets 1.5" just to fix that for my MasterCraft Rubicons
