Seat Swap!!!...Writeup w/ pics!!

Okay so my seats were sucky anyway and last week my drivers seat (actually the backrest on the right side) broke, so i was driving around with a gangster lean IT HAD TO GO!!! Well after 2 days of searching at multiple junkyards i found the perfect set! (just wish that they were direct bolt in, they aren't by ANY means)

Here's the 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva Donar Car:

First step is to remove the YJ seats and take off the brackets:

Then get your donar seats and take the brackets off and pitch 'em:

Now go to lowes and get 2 pre-drilled (2" between each hole) plate bracket:

Cut the bracket in 3 (2 holes in each piece):

Now install the bracket on the front of the seat bottom facing towards the rear, Olds Achieva seat pattern is ~2" shorter than stock YJ seats:

Now bolt the YJ seat bracket to the holes on the rear of the seat and to the newly fabricated brackets:

Tighten and allign everything up and there you go, Seat Swap!! Not as easy as i've herd but not too too bad

Before:

After:

Here's the 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva Donar Car

Gonna look into the year and model from the data that I have collected. I do not want to misslead anyone else after all the work I did to make up that swap list.

Sorry about that bro.

It's cool, lol you should have seen us at the junkyard with the list of cars saying to each other "uhhhh these are different!"

lol its cool tho i love to fab stuff. Also from what we measured a cavalier (the ones with the rounder body style and the seat belt loop) were the exact same as the olds seats that i used. So thoses would need the same modification.

I am hearing that as well from a few other members. I am just tryin to track down years and specific models. Some 2 or 4 door makes a difference.

Thanx for the info and I will have to check that out.

Yeah 2 and 4 door models are different. The 4 door models are way too wide! (like over an inch)

The seats I got out of a "rounded" 2-door '98 Cavalier, also with the seat belt loop, (which I cut off) bolted right up.

I'm thinking the next time the local pick-n-pull has a weekend sale, I'm gonna have to pick me up a new pair of seats.

I currently have a cheapo rip-off of the popular Sparco seat, and it bolted right in, but it's too wide and I had to pull out my center console. Plus I'm tired of having non-matching seats.
