Scrambler (cj8) Half-Cab top on a YJ - ANYONE???

I am interested in putting a scrambler half cab hard top on my YJ, and am wondering if anyone has done so already. If you have please post pictures and explain any of the complications if there are any in the swap. I can get a half cab top cheap right now, so I want to see if this is going to be an easy or complicated ordeal. Thanks for the help.

pretty sure the roll bar has to come out which means you'll lose your seat belts (could convert to a lap belt setup for at least some protection). other than that it should bolt right up.

Ive seen a picture of it somewhere and it looked sweet but I thinkl he had to take off the rear portion of his rollbar. Theres a company that makes them for Tjs and it also looks sweet.

www.gr8tops.com makes them if i remember right....

you can remove the rear section of your rollbar and use the scrambler one with minor work....

the GR8Tops tops are only for TJs, or Scrambler full tops. My main concern is the YJ roll bar fitting with the Scrambler half top, but it seems like it will either need to be replaced with a Scrambler roll bar, or I will cut the half top and weather strip it to fit up to the roll bar. Damn, wish it was a direct drop in.

why not just get the top you want and have a roll bar made? the stock one is inadequate from the factory anyhow and if you're going to be removing from THAT then it will definatly be insufficient in the event of a rollover.

CJ8 Top

Hey man-

I installed a CJ8 top on my 81 CJ7. I used an older CJ5 roll bar and lap belts. You can also buy a Rock Hard CJ8 inner cab roll cage, but they are a little pricey. Good Luck.
