I've read that everywhere I've looked online for usual readings but I'm not going to question the FSM. My brother just got Mopar wires and they measured 4.3k

Two wires in the set I got from advance were 15k and 24k. Way over spec. The rest were ranging from 5.8 to 6.4 so I'm going to assume the wires I have are good (resistance wise anyways). The insulation still could be faulty.

So I got a set of plug wires and new stock copper plugs installed. I went to start it and the battery was dead lol.

Can't catch a break with this thing, but I'm going to have to wait for a chance to have my cherokee sit connected and running to charge it back up

So I tried to jump it with the cherokee but no luck. The last time I stopped in advance i grabbed a $20 trickle charger and hooked it up when I got home today. We'll see in about 2 days when the battery is charged again

So I disconnected the battery from the charger this morning and re-installed it back in the jeep. Started right up but still ran horrible, so I started to double check everything..

I checked all the sensor connections and ended up taking a brake cleaner can to random vacuum connections to see if the RPMs spiked. I found BOTH intake manifolds had leaks in them at the gasket. The front two weren't as bad as the back (could hear an audible hiss over the engine).

I tightened down the manifold bolts a couple times and was in the middle of spray testing the last tightening round and the motor cut out. After repeated starting and dying I sat back and realized it ran out of gas lol

I ended up running for gas and after having a losing battle with the safety device on the gas can.. it started and ran 100% better. I actually have throttle response and it idles around 900. I sprayed the intakes again and didn't hear any RPM spikes. I even took it for a drive around the block with good results

Next I just have to address the rattling in the exhaust from punching out the cat and readjusting my TPS and ISA motor now that I don't have a vac leak

After poking around the jeep looking for issues that could cause a problem for inspection, I broke out my slag hammer and started tapping random sections of the frame. Ended up finding this

Looks like I'll be breaking the welder out again for inspection!

Realizing I will most likely be fighting frame issues for the rest of my life with this jeep.. I might just end up swapping the frame with a 92 rust free frame I bought for a recently sold project.

I'm going to patch this as best I can though and thoroughly inspect other areas of the frame while the tank is out.

Did you get the engine running right? There seems to be more of us 2.5L TBI popping up on the forum. Your thread definitely was the best documented thread for the TBI by far. What did you end up paying for the frame repair plates?

The engine running rich problem was a massive intake manifold leak. He tightened the bolts and it evened out.

Que, just like my bro said. It was a huge leak at the 3 and 4 intake manifold, tightened them down and it idles normal now. I have a rattle in the exhaust though. Probably from a loose piece of metal from punching out the cat.

I've actually noticed more TBI's as well. People must be getting sick of OBDI or maybe they're just cheaper

I've actually been thinking of doing more threads like that but for adjustments and such. It seems the same questions pop up over and over about the TBI issues, and it would be beneficial to lay it out. I did the first one because I never see any writeups on TBI (or 4cyl stuff in general). It always seems to be the 4.0 guys, and I would have liked to read something that was specifically what I would have seen upon teardown.

Those plates ran me about 80 bucks with free shipping

I think you guys should all put together "THE Definitive TBI Thread" so I can refer ppl to it... I'm a noob at TBI, so I don't know how to answer those. Make it a sticky or something.

I am starting to turn the wrench as soon as it gets above 50 here. Right now it seems like that will probably be July! When it does, I would be game for do the documenting. I am going to start a build thread with the glass tub I bought. The games are about to begin!

Im gonna try to get it in there to make it easier on me to weld on the frame (driveway is a hill and don't want to drop the tank on the street).
