I just spent the past hour reading your build/restoration. Looks like you've put a lot of hours into it. Thats great dedication. Good luck on the rest of your build. It's looking great so far!

These are the best kind. The wife generally approves of these purchases too. When I change my mind I can sell the stuff for cost or profit. I know the good feeling.

Got a bunch of work done today..

Got the seats installed! They are comfortable as hell. I was worried about then matching the interior but I think they look good

image-2158265222.jpg

I moved on to spend some quality time with my intake and cleaned it up

image-3263690894.jpg

Then onto cleaning the vacuum line assembly. Found a completely dry rotted hose as well and replaced it

image-3328801429.jpg

The spring clip actually broke in two when I tried to remove it.. I wonder how long this hose has been there

I also degreased and de-rtv'd the valve cover in preparation for getting the head back next week. No pics of that though

Thanks! I've been following your 94 thread as well. Keep up the good work. Sometimes I wish I could do more modifications like you, but recently mine's been focused on creating a *working* jeep haha

I hear u. It all depends on what ur workin with. Thankfully my rust issues r minimal compared to urs. Ur definitely going in the right order. Cant be modding a rust bucket.

Looked at the photos you posted up of your combustion chambers. Not sure why your #1 exhaust valve is so clean looking--only time I've seen that difference is if there has been coolant getting in there like in a blown head gasket, or a crack in the cylinder in that chamber. Of course, that doesn't seem to match your Intake valve in #1 so not sure what to make of it. Anyway, that's just an anecdote, and likely not the norm. I am sure the machine shop will test your head for cracks (pressure test, magnaflux) before they do a rebuild on it.

Got the head back today.. The machinist said he had to put 4 seats in and 3 completely new valves. He said it was real bad

No pics yet but I'll post some soon

So I think I heard the machinist wrong. Looking at it I think it was 4 new valves and 3 seats. Either way I stopped off at advance last night to get some engine paint to finish this off before I install.

Impressive thread..thanks for all the pics and details of your work. Floors turned out great. I kind of thought you might have swapped your other jeeps engine after you pulled the head on the 4 cyl. But with these gas prices I wouldn't mind a 4 cyl right now myself

Thank you! I wasn't really thinking about that swap until i started having problems w the timing after i put the reman head in. Im still trying to track it down.. I even pulled the timing cover again to make 100% sure i did that right. I think I have it down to distributor position.

When i looked into using the 93 as a donor I wasn't too fond of the 32rh. If I didn't want to use it I would have had to find an ax15, computer, driveshafts, etc. Seemed like more work than I wanted to do in the winter, especially when I'll be moving into a new place in a couple months.

I read the entire thread this morning. Good job on your project! Chasing engine problems, or any problem for that matter, is never fun. Looks like you are getting a handle on it though.
