Got some work done this weekend but not as much as I would have liked. The tank, springs, bushings, exhaust hangers, body bushings were taken out or moved out of the way. I started hitting the passenger shackles section to see where I was at and started on the repair. I got as far as burning in 1/3 of the one shackle area before calling it quits for the day on Friday. I also need to look into better ventilation for my garage with the welding (smoked up the house good lol) Saturday I had to tend to my WJ's rear axle bearing so I didn't get anything else done on the yj, but here are some pics of the progress

picked up a HF 8" ventilator with ducting to vent my garage while welding. I should be back behind the helmet this week to finish up the rear frame sections

You have really done a great job so far. Are you goig to rust proof the frame when your done?

Thanks que. I will most likely just rustoleum the heck out of it for now. I have a 92 frame that is near perfect for a future swap

Update today. I put the ventilator to the test and it seems to work pretty well considering I had nothing before but an open garage door.

I'm pretty sure I found my build date for my frame which I think is a pretty cool thing to stumble on

A little progress this weekend. Found that my shock mount on the passenger side was also gone so I got that rebuilt and welded in

I've decided to reinforce the frame sections I've welded last year while I had the tank out just to cover my bases. After making templates and cutting them out, the First is the fuel filter area that I got done today

After all this I wire brushed and primed the passenger side so no surface rust would form.

Next is the driver rear shackle plates. I bought both sides with that kit so I might as well use them

A little update from the weekend

I decided to plate the shackle area I welded last year. I cut off/ground down any of the old plates

And man was I glad I decided to do this. I would have failed inspection for sure

On to welding

Then coating. I went over the underside of the tub with a wire wheel and coated with rusty metal primer and rustoleum satin black

After all that I realized I had to do something about my exhaust hanger since I welded over the holes. I broke out the box'o'bolts and tap and die set

Moved on to install my amazon special 3/4" lift shackles I got for 50 bucks. I got these solely because they came with new bushings. The existing ones tore and the eye sleeve mangled when I removed them. These are also greasable.

I'm glad I pushed to get this thing done. I have to install the front shackles, fixing the valve cover leak and then it's off the inspection (she's about 7 months overdue) lol

That looks good. It bugs me when people post build pics and those areas are covered in rust. The jeep is actually degrading as their build moves along. It seems backwards.

Your section looks great and should last forever.

Thanks Matt, and I completely agree. I didn't want to build a house on sand here especially when I plan on wheeling it (at some point lol). I wanted to be comfortable with my repairs

I don't believe that the frame will last forever as a whole but those sections won't be a problem for a long time. I do have a frame from a 92 that is completely free from rust that I plan on swapping over when the time comes. I just don't have the space or resources for a project like that at my house or I would have put my efforts into that instead of fixing this frame. This method was quicker to get it inspected and on the road anyways so I can drive and enjoy the jeep

I just got done fixing my frame. I got a piece of 2x4 box tube and notched, bent and welded it in place.
