Looks like you're making some good progress.

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you post a parts list when you're done of everything you had to buy?

I'm looking at doing a very similar swap probably towards the end of the summer and a list wold be nice!

Well its a long , and i make sure my wife dont see this
1. sbc 350 Motor- $200
2. 700r4 tranny, torque converter and NP231c- $250
3. Novak motor mounts- $175
4. HEI distributor- $50
5. Starter- $50
6. 1 wire alternator- $68
7. Intake and carb- $425
8. Fuel pump- $50
9. Flex plate- $25
10. JB conversion SYE- $200 (not always needed but im doing bigger lift too)
So right now im just about $1500...
And ill fill the rest in later.... As im not done. Lots of little ****. (gas lines, heater hoses, new battery cables, etc.) It could be done cheaper, i planned on staying under $1000, but the wife said the credit card was open.

Exactly, that's why I was interested to see this list. I know how much the major components are going to cost me. But it wold be interesting to see how much I'll really get nickled and dimed to death by this swap.

I'm guessing another $200 or so at the most, but my guessing usually gets me into trouble.

Its crazy what the little stuff adds up to. Fuel line is like $4 a foot, I needed 10ft. Transmission cooler lines are even more expensive if you use the rubber lines. I used 3 feet of rubber line, half on each line next to the tranny to make it easier to work with. Then the steel line for the rest of the distance was about $6 each. The adaptors/connectors at each end, a few bucks. Then there's still heater core lines, and rad hoses. You're at $100 before you know it, and that's only on hoses. Oh, and I forgot power steering hoses. The high pressure one is the worst if it doesn't match up.

Wire is pretty cheap, but you'll need a bit of it, and connectors, and I like heat-shrink tubing to make it neat. Some switches will be handy too.

Need any Carb adjustments? my edelbrock uses jets $9/pair, and metering rods, $14/pair....

Exhaust system.....

Yeah it is I've only had my engine for a couple weeks now and its already adding up. I got the engine and everything else i want or need off the donor vehicle for $100. That helped a lot. I dug up a free bell, flywheel (that has to be rebalanced). I found a ax15 for $350 which i think i may can do better. Adapter was $300. Still got to get the radiator and a starter and figure out what I am going to do about a higher pressure fuel pump. Im still aiming at $1k for the swap minus the exhaust which brings me to my question.

OP or anyone else with input, what are you doing for exhaust? Im giving serious thought to just keeping the exhaust manifolds on the engine and not fooling with headers since It already has a power band I like. Im thinking 3" pipe from the Y back to the existing location. Maybe I missed it in reading the thread.

Your limited slip differential sucks.

Im going to run stock manifolds. I have 2 different truck Y pipes from the junk yard that will be cut up to make one, and then im hoping i can either tap back into my stock exhaust or i have new parts if needed. Ebay hi-flo cat and a flowmaster muffler that i had left over from my last project... Hope it helps.

And i dont sweat the little stuff, it adds up but it doesnt hurt like the big $$ stuff... atleast not for me.

This is as far as I've gotten so far. 94 5.7 TBI, NV 3500 just got put in yesterday. I still have to put the tranny mount in and get it bolted down, I really want to make sure it's straight. I have a 241 case now, but I am trying to find a 231c to do the c/j hybrid. The 24 is about 20" long.

I never realized how saggy my springs were until now.

As soon as trans is mounted it's wiring time, not looking forward to that.

I bought the Trans-Dapt mounts from Jeg's. http://www.jegs.com/i/Trans+Dapt/969/4566/10002/-1 The headers were on the motor when I got it, 94 Chevy truck. I think they are pacesetters.

The headers clear the frame, but not by much, so I may not be able to use them. I need to get the t-case in first to see. The collector is about 1/4" from the fuel lines.

Well i got some more done monday night and tonight...
1. Monday night - i did my timing, put my new cover on, and all my new gaskets in. (rear main, oil filter inner, oil pan, timing cover, water neck)
2. Tuesday night - Took all my brackets off the donor motor, and sand blasted them and painted them all black again. And finally got my motor and tranny bolted together.
3. Wednesday(?) - Get my motor set in and my mounts tacked in place. So i can remove my motor and get it all welded up good...
