Saggy butt. AALs or flip the shackles?
OK so I have an OME 2.5 lift and inch and a quarter daystar shackles on my YJ. Lift has been on for just over a year and I LOVE IT! Super flexy and no rub issues even at max flex. The only issue is the butt sag. I still have a set of AALs from my stock spring packs, so I'm contemplating adding them to the OMEs in the back. Is this going to actually help out or should I flip the shackles in the back?
For those who haven't seen Daystar shackles, here.
Right now the long side of the shackle is on the frame. I figure if I flip them it should push the frame higher and fix the sag.
Thoughts? Any other way to fix a saggy butt?

Flipping the shackles will not make them any longer - therefore, you will not get any additional lift from them.
If you think about it - the shackles aren't getting any longer (bolt hole to bolt hole) so doing a simple flip won't gain you any lift whatsoever.

I cant see how flipping the shackle will make any difference. The conection ponts are spacing the leaf the same distance from the frame either way.
I had AAL on my stock suspension and they were not very good, really harsh ride

Argh... I let my inner idiot out with that one. Of course the shackles aren't longer one one side than the other. Duh.
My old AALs really didn't cause me any greif, but then again my shocks were shot so I wouldn't have known the diffrence. My problem is I broke on when I got hung up on a rock.

yea x100000, flipping shackles won't do anything. don't do an AAL either. if your OME spring packs are sagging, won't their warranty cover it?

You'll get way more lift from a good set of BDS or Rubicon Express stickers.

They aren't sagging per se, its just the natural effect of the heavy tub making the rear lower than the front.

Did you get medium or heavy duty springs for the rear? YJ's benefit from heavy duty springs all around, especially with heavy bumpers, armor, etc. The fronts are almost always heavy duty, because that's where more of the weight is.

I had the same issue with mine and swapping the 8.8 in just magnified it. I just fabricated some longer boomerang shackles for the back to level it out.

I might talk to the guys at 4wheel parts to see what I can do about getting the rears replaced. The only thing I don't look forward to is installing another set of springs. Parking lot at my apartment can be a PITA to work on things.
