rust spots

So I have a 95 yj with some rust spots that are not all the way through from what I can tell, and in addition to this there is some mild rust on the hinges on the front doors. How can I repair this?

Thanks!

I use a Rustoloeum product that neutralizes the rust and leaves a paintable surface. Cant remember the name but it goes on milky and turns black and hard after it dries. The surface can be filled with spot putty to smooth it out. Body shop protocol would be to grind away all the rust then paint and spot putty/bondo. I figure I wont be entering any car shows so I take the easy route. Stop the rust and dont worry about it.

Yeah.

I use basically the same thing from Dupli-Color: Rust Fix. Sprays on clear, and turns only the rust to black primer. I've used almost a full can of it. The stuff is great!

They do but personal experience the brush on works better than the rattle.
If u plan on topcoating it the rattle can works just fine
But if you don't plan on top coating it because you like the flat black.
Use the brush on.
