Rust is killing my Jeep

This could be my imagination but it sems that since I have stopped using my Jeep has a DD that everything inside the engine bay is rusting in hyper drive. The block has rust all over, new parts that i have installed this summer are starting to rust even the aluminum pieces have some kind of fuzzies on it. I'm really agravated is there a way of slowing the rust down? Is there some kind of chemical that's causing this? Also what about this gadget in JCWhitney that's supposed to energize the metal to stop rust, is anyone using this?

WD-40 will work for a short time and burn off the engine.

The best thing to do is get some aersol rust convertor and spray the rusting parts. It turns to a dull black. I spray paint my undercarriage every couple of years with flat black rust preventitive paint to keep it looking good.

The reason I mentioned WD-40 is because:

When I used to have PWCs and used them in the ocean, it was advised that after flushing the motor and washing down the engine bay and everything, that you "fog" the engine compartment with WD-40. After a good two years of ocean use, my boats looked like new.

Also, when I clean my toybox, after I put it away I spray WD-40 all over the cheap chrome wheels and just leave it on there. Sure they get all dusty dirty, but they clean right up when Im ready to go again and theres no rust...

no need to worry about the aluminum parts. once the surface oxidizes it will stop corroding. ever see a rusty beer can? lol. like xxx said, get some kind of coating and spray down the rusting spots. if you want to do it right, wire brush the rust spots, degrease, and then paint with engine enamel in the color of your choice. this stuff is good for elevated temps but don't try it on the exhaust parts. for them, you can get high temps stuff like POR-15's header enamel or some sort of industrial coating rated for the elevated temps.

Ya, you know how cheap the chrome is on those wheels... As soon as these tires justify replacement, Im going to put no the black Soft 8s to match the Jeep

Ya think I could put some BFG ATs on my toybox? ~kidding

POR 15 works great too.... only bad thing is if it gets on you, it doesn't come off for a month or two.

Man you have no idea how much I want to drive it everyday. Instead of the jeep I get to drive a friggin dodge neon. I have no choice but to swallow my pride since the neon saves me about $80 a week in gas.

so compromise and drive it two days a week and only save $60 a week after filling up the jeep once. lifes too short not to drive a jeep at least one day out of the week
