running out of gas?

so, I am on the freeway, and the car starts to act as if it was running out of gas. I had jest left the gas station whit a full tank.

the car a Jeep Wrangler 1996 nothing fancy.

so before i start doing something to it, i was thinking. what may cos all this ?

It feels jest like if its starts running out of gas and then it jest goes away.
It also makes this "klank" like if its hitting a gas can.

It's not a '96 Wrangler. But I'd start by looking into the fuel pump. Or the fuel filter as that's cheaper and easier to replace.

I have a 99 and experienced similar issues. It would act as if the engine wasnt getting fuel, and then BANG! A couple of pops from the catalytic converter. Started intermitant at first, then every time I started it, but it would go away after about 10 to 15 seconds. Turns out itwas the upper O2 sensor. Just see if it gets worse, and if your MPG really starts going down the tubes, along with a loss of power.
