The price is only right if it gets you where you want to be. What that means is that you are only saving money on the 3" kit if you want the jeep to sit up a little and fit 31's (good street set-up) or you want to run those tires for as long as it takes to wear them out and then upgrade($600 worth of rubber). Then you can decide if you want to go bigger, say 33's or 35's. The jump to 33's and beyond costs quite a bit more than just another set of springs or a SOA.
If you "eventually" plan on bigger tires, it may be better to save the cash and labor by skipping the intermediate step and spend money once. Your personallity will dictate. Go with what makes you happy rather than trying to save $50. You will end up spending less in the long run.
Seems like it'd be saving a lot more than $50. 3" is borderline but like 2.5" for example wouldn't need new drive shafts, and SYE. That's more like $450 savings. If you get a 3" lift and a 1" body lift + 1" MM lift it'll clear 32's and might not need too much of a TC drop.
You could do a lot on a rig like that and save up for the setup you find out you actually wanted instead. Learn the skills on a modest rig where you'll have to exercise them more then do an SOA or install a bigger lift afterwards. Well that's my plan anyways.
well i am thinking of the same i also own a 93 yj with a 2.5 i am looking for mosly height i use my for going back and forth to work no heavy off road there are no places to go off road localy if there were i would spend thousands on lift and tires for the price of$475 or so delivered that is a good deal for me also i am running 235.75 15 so it won't look to bad my 2ct's

If you are the original purchaser of any BDS product and it breaks, we will give you a new part. Period.

Please do not get me wrong, I like my BDS sytem (the shop that installed them is another story),and I highly recommend them. However, my springs (2.5") are starting to deform terribly-almost S shaped at this point--if I went back to BDS do you think they would work with me on replacements or do I have to "break them completely" before they are covered..
I know I have caused this problem as I use my jeep as a work truck on site (hauling materials, pulling out equipment,etc)and many would say I even abuse it. But that is why I have my jeep, and I need to correct this situation.

I have the RC3inch,installed it two weeks ago,took about 9 hours,me and one other guy,and he is an experienced mechanic,(I'm not)It seems to be fine,I'm happy with it.I know there are better ones out there,but if money is the issue,and it always is,its a pretty good set up. I took Osburns advise,and used 2 1/2 degree shims,and everything seems to be just fine. I have no shimmy or vibration to speak of,although,they do not include longer sway bar arms,which I purchased from skyjacker for $87,quick disconnects.I think it all depends on what you are going to do with your Jeep,if your hard core,you might want the higer doller lifts,I think the old saying"you get what you pay for"holds true. Well we have not tested my Rubicon Express (RE) Lift yet but it looks wicked. It is a 4.5" kit (come 2.5") and sits at about 5.5 inches. Very good looking kit and comes with EVERYTHING, just need tools such as a torx wrench, pitman arm puller etc... The cheapest I found the kit for was 849.95 though. Kinda steap seeing that you can find lift kits like this for under 700. BDS is another good choice I have heard though. I alot of people go with it.
