Resto

I am planning on doing a tub off restoration on my 93 this summer, planning on new paint, powder coating the chassis, and mainly cleaning up the mess of wires under the hood. Any heads up before I start and suggestions would be awesome.

Welcome to JF! I'd say just for starters, begin soaking the body mount bolts in some PB Blaster several weeks before you start. Drill a tiny hold (big enough for the straw) above each captive nut and soak the crap outta them. I am in the middle of a tub off right now and did this with absolutely no problem when it came time to remove the bolts. Tons of info on here, search tub off resto and see what ya get. Invest in PB Blaster, Anti-seize, POR-15 and associated products, and beer.

I did this, and can tell you it's worth it.

The roll cage bolts made me drink. Get decent tools, grinders, impacts etc.

Also see the YJ build page for lots of other restorations.

LOTS AND LOTS of those beers, the tear down will be the most frustrating, figure on breaking lots of bolts and things..... and lots of gringding and crap to get it nice to be powerdercoated....

ALSO powerdercoating takes lots of heat, so you axles and stuff will need broken down and all the gears, fluid, rubber seals will need to come out prior to coating and all redone with new ones.... nota fun job either...

the end result will be nice Im sure... good luck

I chose the POR-15 over the powder coat for one reason. Money.
