Removing transfer case drop after installing SYE & CV D.S.?

Has anyone been able to remove a transfer case drop from a 4" suspension lift after installing a SYE & CV drive shaft?

Right now I have a transfer case drop that I put in with my suspension lift and I'm wondering if the SYE & CV d.s. will allow me to remove it for the additional ground clearance.

Anyone had any luck with this?

a buddy of mine has a 6" mono-linear lift, and had a 1" t-case drop w/ cv driveshaft. we took it off and had no problem at all. things to be considered are d/s length at full axle droop, how much slip will be left in the d/s after stretching it a bit.

well right now even with the transfer case drop I have vibration in the driveline. So the point of my sye & cv drive shaft for me is to get rid of the vibration. What I'm hoping is that the sye & cv drive shaft will be enough to get rid of the drop and eliminate the vibration. (hope that didn't sound bad. . .sorry if it does)

dunno...maybe removing the drop bracket will fix your vibes. give it a shot its only six bolts. when you installed your lift did you use any degree shims to point the pinion higher? a few degrees of pinion angle may solve your problem as well.

I was able to get rid of my transfer case drop after I got a SYE and CV shaft. You have to have the correct pinion angle though. Use an angle finder and set your pinion angle to about 1 degree below the angle of the drive shaft. If its off, then your gonna have to buy some shims. If your U-joints are good then you shouldnt have any vibes. Good luck. Here is a good article explaining it better.

Even with a SYE and a CV driveshaft you will need to point your pinion up towards the trasfercase by use of shims or cutting and rewelding your spring perches. Check your u joints in your driveshaft heck just replace them they are not that exspensive and are not hard to change.

With a 4" lift, I added a CV shaft and SYE and still had the 1" drop. After adding 8* shims I removed the drop and all was well. I didn't like the shims so I had the perches rewelded to point the pinion within 2*. Point is shims will allow you remove the drop, but what shims you'll need depends on your jeep. 8* shims were very, very thick.

Yeah I have 8* shims as well, once I get my 8.8 rearend Im gonna weld the perches in the correct spot.

I removed the t/c drop on mine. No problems. Any clearance you can get is worth it. Also, if you are ordering your driveshaft from somewhere like Tom Woods, you can get it in any length you want. You still may have an issue with the pinion angle. I had 6 degree shims until I swapped in the dana 44 and we just welded the new perches to the correct angle.

i had to keep my 1" drop, and use four degree shims, to come close to the correct angle

i put in a 1" JKS Motor mount lift and took off the transfer case drop. no problems at all since. i have the Rough Country lift w/ shims and currie greasable shackles which are about 3/4" longer than stock. no driveline vibes.

well......installed the JB Conversions SYE this weekend. I removed the t-case drop that came with my Rough Country suspension lift. The only bad thing was the driveshaft I bought from someone is about 2" too long so I had to drive home on the front driveshaft. It was nice to be able to do this, though, because before I would've had to worry about losing fluid out the back of the t-case. I'm going to have the driveshaft shortened this week.

But.....as for the purpose of this thread......I discovered that after removing the t-case drop (more ground clearance!) and the rear driveshaft, the vibration is gone. Hopefully when I get the CV driveshaft in, there will continue to be no vibration.
