Removed Transfer Case, Auto Tranny Spilled fluid

My question is: how much do I know to put in? I checked the dip stick with the car off, and it said it was full. But that's obviously not with the torque converter filled.

Should I just start the car and keep checking it as it warms up?

Auto trans running in neutral warm it up. Cycle the shifter through the gears to get the pump circulating the fluid back to neutral and check level. Do this a couple of times.

Parking brake and block a wheel.

Should I be safe running it when it has leaked out... I'm really not sure. Probably a quart or so of fluid?

Automatic Transmission
32RH 17.1 pints
30RH 7 quarts
42RLE 4 quarts

I would say cycling through the gears while not moving would be ok just being 1/4 low. Don't stress the tranny, though.
