I've been using an old moving blanket for a bed mat. Mostly to keep stuff from moving around, soft for the dog, etc. Decided I would prefer something rubbery back there, since the blanket was falling apart. Did not want a bed liner stuff painted on. Just not my thing. Figured I would buy a rubber bed mat made for some small truck and cut it to size. Those are over a C-note. That's when I noticed the floor mats I have in my shop in front of the machines.
Time to clean out all the old blanket, sand, dog hair, and french fries.
Let her drain for a while.
I found the same floor mats on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001E6CURU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I've had them on my shop floor for 20 years or so, and they have held up perfectly to my foot traffic. They are much softer than rubber bed mats. I expect to get some scuffing from sliding stuff in/out. Time will tell how it lasts, but for $40ish, should be fine. You can also get it in a 120" roll, and if you have more than one YJ or share with friends, it will be even cheaper.
Comes in a 36" x 60" size. The bed is about 36" x 38", so a little cutting and it fits perfectly. Thickness is between 3/8 and 1/2".
