rear seal still leaking,,,duhh

After 5 cussed hours I had my new rear main seal in, started the jeep, it was leaking like a sieve. Did I put the upper seal in wrong? The lower seal only goes in one way. Or maybe I put the bearing cap on backwards? I dunno. Regardless, I guess I need to buy a new bearing set? Anyone make this goof before?

Yep, that's how it goes. Some of the Fel-Pro seals come with a plastic tool to help get the top half in w/o cutting it but you need three hands to use it.

Pulled off the oil pan to find a broken gasket. Its broken near the front bearing. Had to put it back together to move it. Guess I will pull it off a third time when I get a new gasket... this is getting crazy

some folks don't think there worth it but i like the one piece permadry gaskets, for me they're easier to handle and have steel grommets around the bolt holes that are supposed to keep you from overtightening
