IIRC the cut off for drum vs disk is 1995
would this include mountaineers in the time period ?

most parts are interchangeable explorer to mountaineer

the one from the ranger is too narrow. read the jedi story. your looking for the 8.8 out of an explorer, very common although hard to find the right ratio and limited slip. the stock d35 is 60.5"wms to wms and the 8.8 is 59.5" only 1/2" on each side. no issue unless you run stock rims. again read the jedi story, i found it to be right on the money. in st louis they go for about 200-250.

chuck

p.s. mountaineer is the mercury version of the explorer--same axles
