Registered User | when filling ac, i ususally use a gauge and if there isn't one availiable i empty the system and fill with the correct amount recomended. i feel better that way instead of guessing. |

Registered User Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Muskogee, Ok Posts: 251 | The true R12 refrigerant can only be purchased by licensed heat and air people, and they must have specialized recovery equipment. The cost around here is about $40 a lb. All the AC people that I have spoken with also say that the new refrigerant is much more corrosive and will eat up the seals with in a couple of years.
