quick release kit for hard tops
I will eather have to put even larger screws in over the windshield or convert to the quick release kits I see in the Jeep mags. Any opinions on those kits or is there a better solution/option?

x2 on the kit i have it and like it alot. it is pretty spendy thought for 2 latches a couple of thumb screws and a handfull of rivets. if i were to do it again i would just have made my own. i got a busted hardtop and cut it so i now have a hard bikini top in addition to my hardtop and i just went to the local hardware store and got a set of latches for about $5.

What were the brand you bought for the quick-disconnect set? Or rather, can you take a picture so I can look into fabricating my own?

they are threaded rivets.. when you put them in, you now have a threaded hole that accepts a machine screw..

The quick kit I just ordered has lots of rivets in it, but some of them are to rivet the rear flat nuts into place so you never have to worry about losing/having them fall again. They have a smaller hole on each side of the threaded hole, I'll be drilling and riveting them into place.

ebay solution
The screws along the top of my windshiled liked to fall out every few miles, but luckily i found a great replacement on ebay. A seller called Grandboubou sells a kit with metal clips and larger screws for about 15 bucks. All you have to do is drill out the exsisting holes to 1/4 inch, snap the clips in place, and screw the top back on. It doesn't contain anything for the back, but it sounded like your problem was just with the windshield. Just run a search on ebay for "wrangler hard top fastener". Great fix, and he ships them pretty quick.
