Quadratec Soft-Top Question

Hi so I know this is a stupid question but I've never taken the soft top off my jeep and I was wondering if anyone had any directions that they can point me to? It has the sport roll cage on it.

Thank you.

Start by rolling up your back window. Make sure it's clean and rolled neatly so it doesn't get scratched.
Look above each side window for bars that pivot in the middle. They may be secured by a pin that will need to be removed.
That will loosen the whole rear area.
Un-snap any snaps (tops vary)
Untuck the top belts from the rails around the tub. That's the part where the body tub meets the soft top in back.
Untuck the belt from the windshield rails. (above the windshield.)
Unhook the bar from the windshield frame (top sides of windshield)

Top should be ready to fold to the rear.

Mine had straps to hold the bars in the rear.

When it's folded back, it should look like this.

My Jeep is NOT a Fiat!

Thank you, with the side windows can I leave for them all zipped up and the rear corners where the top meets the tub do I just tuck them in before folding it?

Definitely clean them first. And unzip and remove them always.

I never roll/fold them in with the top, though. I use those big steel paper clamps and hang them up in the garage.

For folding the top, look on youtube for videos that show how to do it. The main trick involves turning the rear corner "legs" inside out at the top corners and laying them on top of the rear canvas. The videos show the technique of folding the top around the bows neatly so it will lay on the tailgate properly.

Here's a video of our very own Ashland showing how it's done.

If I had your sewing machine and the skills to use it, I'd put m hardtop on e-bay.
I could design a better softop than the cheap junk thrown at us.

Thanks Chris. I actually just did a project for a club buddy. He had a K5 Blazer on 40's with a full custom cage he had just finished. We made a bikini top for it, snaps and straps and darts as needed to make it fit nice.

I got it all off and the funny part about what you said is that I have a like new hard too sitting on 2x4s on the driveway after having it fly out the back of a pickup truck after an 18 wheeler came up the other side of the road and the wind took it with it.

Why the hate? Our soft tops fit and function great! I have one on my current TJ and have 2 complaints about it. I have had 10 Jeeps with soft tops ranging from the least expensive I could buy to the most expensive (Mopar Twill). Of course, the Twill is the way to go, but not available for YJ's at the moment.

Hey Rick, I used my YJOTM win towards a new Rampage soft top for hard doors and it fits very nice! The description as well as the sales guy on the phone assured me that it would not work with soft uppers- it's perfect with them.
Thank you again for sponsoring the contest each month.
