PSA: Borla exhaust for 87-91 Wranglers 40% OFF from Borla directly

just visiting from the WJ forum. anyhow, was looking at Borla's discontinued section and saw this. retail is $466, and the closeout price is $280. seems like a good deal to me.

That's a pretty dang good price.

I bought one for my 4.0L back in '01 and have been happy with it. IIRC, it was on sale at Truckperformance.com and I got it at a local 4wp since they did a price match & I didn't have to pay shipping. Cost was ~the same as those you posted for the 2.5L.

4.2 wont work on the 4.0 and vice versa. I have full headers and exhaust system on my Wrangler and I love em. The exhaust sound is great.

it says:

$465.99
reg $279.59

and when I hit buy it, it rings up $465.99. I was going to see if my local 4 Wheel Parts would price match it.

yeah whoever updated the web page screwed up. but i'm sure if you call them up, they'll honor the lower price. definitely try the price match, good luck!

Man thats a lot of cash I just can't imagine how that will pay for itself performance wise.
To each his own.

A few things to consider that you may not have thought about are cracks/brake/bent etc.

I would have LOVED to keep my original factory header on my 4.0L. However, it got banged-up pretty bad a number of times and was basically beyond easy repair.

When you play in the big rocks - things happen.

A neighbor friend of mine who has worked as a welder for nearly 50 years and teaches welding classes at a local college welded it up for me 3 times.

After the 3rd time "fixing" it, I decided to replace it after getting tired of removing it & replacing it.

I wasn't looking for performance - I was looking to fix my Jeep and pass smog.

Being a Cat back system that they are referring to I don't see how your exhaust manifold is relavent and Borla or not if you bash it on rocks it's gonna break and I doubt that they would replace it under warranty if you smashed it.

Its a stainless steel catback exhaust with a one million mile warranty. Its another thing that you won't have to worry about rusting. Borla ranking near the top when it comes to performance gains from an exhaust, and near, if not at, the top for sound.

My question, is there any reason why the muffler itself couldn't handle a I6 or V8?
