Prolonged YJ build
Was gonna wait till I finished everything, but here it is.

This is my first Jeep

92 Islander
as you can see it has a gangster lean to the passenger side from the body mounts coming through the tub.

I drove it like that for a few months then blew up the axle
(this is where the fun began)

picked up some 4.10 from the junk yard and cleaned the up

then I decided I was gonna buy a new YJ for the meantime
and ended up buying this 89

then I decided since the frame had some rot and I didn't want the carbureted engine for cold days I'd just swap the body (since other tub has body mounts through it anyway)
look at all that rot hidden for me under dash

started cleaning up the frame to be sanded and repainted

[Will update with painted frame]

While I was under there I noticed my oilpan was dented so I'm waiting on that to be shipped

To be continued:
in the near future, install new oil pan, new 2" bds lift, and then roll it out of the garage and put it all back together.

Looks like you have been keeping busy. Keep the thread going as we are watching it.

Sanded down the windshield and got a coat of primer before it got too cold tonight

robx316 01-30-2013 05:43 AM

stayed rather warm all night
so I painted on the islander hood as best I could (not paying $99 for a decal)

1st coat of primer

2 coats Black

2 coats yellow

What color of bulbs did you go with? As well, which supplier did you use for the white face gauge overlays?

robx316 02-06-2013 05:45 AM

Just plain bulbs and search white gauge on amazon should come up for 19.xx

Starting to really come together now! You are going to have a puddle under the jeep as it looks like you have lots of snow like us!

I thought so too but it wasn't that bad

today I got almost everything back together (except windshield and seats)

having a few issues with the starter I need to work out

sorry no pictures today.

Got her started!

the oil pan is leaking though so I gotta re adjust the gasket
then its time to put all the pieces back on and re torque all the bolts!

hopefully my next update is the completed jeep
