Project "Spring Chicken"

I have been into the Jeep thing now for nearly 3 years.

I bought my Jeep "stock", with salvage title in hand.

The previous owner used it as a hunting rig to take in the great outdoors, then one drunken night, took a turn to fast down a windy road, and hit a large dip in the road. Needless to say, the Jeep did a endo to rest flat on her back. Don't worry, the beer was ok.

He eventually straightened her out and rebuilt the front end.

just purchased

Anyways...

When I had originally gotten my jeep my project was "Aim high". So I proceeded to add a 4" RC lift, 35" tires, 3" BL, among many other little bolt on do dads.

after rhino liner paint job.

35" tires added

3" BL added

Anyways...
After pulling myself away from those BLASTED "8.8 woes" and "which lift" threads, I tried to dive deeper into more advanced things.

I got a little spare cash at the beginning of last summer and started on my SOA. Obviously still going for "Aim High".

with the combination of 4.88's, lockers, 8.8, teraflex this, teraflex that, and only the best other nessessities i completed my build in what seemed like forever.

More pics below.

More SOA.

And contrary to popular belief, the jeep was more then any kind of stable I could ever ask for, it didnt have death wobble, and it got me to and from the trails with ease.

This now leads me to the point of this thread.

Project Spring Chicken.

It had occured to me that the BL was by far the worst mod I had ever done. Not because I was not sure of the integrity of it, or the possible breakage in the future, but because it was just down right UGLY.

At the begining of Winter I knew that come spring/summer time, I would need to make some revision to the rig.

I knew first and for most, the BL was coming off. Along with that would be the addition to the D44 that has been sitting in my garage since summer and a 14 bolt from unknown location too.

The only problem with that is some of the armor I had made will have to be scrapped because of the removal of the BL. my beloved rear tube fenders and rock slider would need to be removed. I would also need some more clearace for tires once removed as well.

So yesterday called for the start of the project.

Stage one.
Remove armor.

And this is how it sits now in my driveway.

Sundays updates will include the shaving of those old mounts to the fram level along with grinding down all the old mounts.

On top of that, I will be removing the 3"er and adding the MORE 1" BL.

Not this is a Auotmatic, so I will be posting a "How to remove a 3" BL from your YJ" in the tech writeup section for all of you that had gone the way of the dark side.

hang in tight. this is going to be a rocky few weeks.

Here is a list of the "to do" for spring chicken.

PSC Rockers, PCS Comp Cut Corners, PCS rear stinger/frame supports, etc., XJ rear stretch, BTF fuel cell and skid.

The D44 and 14Bolt will probably be something I will tackle over the summer before I get married.

This is gonna be a good year.
